All-weather Zoo Münster: Animal adventures in all weathers
A visit to the all-weather zoo is like travelling around the world: more than 600,000 visitors a year come here to see animals from our native climate, as well as from the tropics and subtropics. You can experience more than 300 different species in the 30-hectare zoo – whatever the weather. The Zoo's all-weather walkways, covered paths and trails make it easy to explore the Zoo's rich biodiversity, even in rainy weather or when the sun is blazing.
The popular zoo, which is also known throughout Germany, thanks to the ARD documentary series “Pinguin, Löwe & Co” (“Penguin, Lion & Co”), is located in a wooded area near Lake Aasee. “Animals up close” is the zoo’s motto – and indeed, at the all-weather zoo, you can feed elephants yourself, accompany penguins on a walk, visit monkeys and parrots in their enclosures and get up close and personal.
You can also learn more about the natural and cultural history of horses at the Westphalian Horse Museum in the centre of the zoo and see the animals in action in the “Hippomaxx” Arena – a visit is included in the admission price.
There are accessible ramps and paths in most areas of the zoo, as well as wheelchair hire and wheelchair-accessible toilets.
